Cet ouvrage est le résultat d’une recherche portant sur l’expérience vécue par deux mères ayant perdu leurs enfants suite à un infanticide (filicide pour les scientifiques). La première partie du livre fournit au lecteur une boîte à outils qui lui permet de saisir dans toute son épaisseur la complexité de l’expérience vécue par les proches de victimes de filicide. L’ouvrage analyse ensuite les récits des deux mères interviewées pour réaliser cette recherche. Cette analyse se fait selon deux axes particuliers, celui de la temporalité judiciaire (depuis le jour des faits jusqu’à la clôture du procès) d’une part, celui du rapport que ces deux mères entretiennent avec les acteurs du monde judiciaire d’autre part. La recherche présentée adopte une méthodologie particulière puisque l’auteure du livre est également une des deux mères interviewées. Le lecteur découvre alors une écriture en « je » qui analyse son expérience à la troisième personne. Cet ouvrage intéressera les professionnels du monde judiciaire, avocats, juges, policiers ou membres des services d’aide aux victimes, les professionnels du soin, les criminologues, les psychologues mais également toute personne qui souhaiterait en savoir plus sur le vécu des proches de victimes.

Zoals in de meeste andere ontwikkelde landen zijn de forensische wetenschappen ook in België aan de orde van de dag. Geavanceerde criminalistiek en forensisch bewijs zijn dan ook onontbeerlijk geworden in de strijd tegen de moderne criminaliteit. Het is dan ook enigszins verwonderlijk dat het forensisch bewijs als zodanig in België nog niet echt het voorwerp uitmaakt van veel juridische reflectie.00In deze monografie wordt nader ingegaan op het ontstaan van de forensische activiteit in België alsook op de huidige organisatie ervan: welke instanties houden zich bezig met forensische opsporing en forensisch onderzoek, en wat precies is de taak van het Nationaal Instituut voor Criminalistiek en Criminologie (NICC) en van de laboratoria voor technische en wetenschappelijke politie (LTWP)? Voorts wordt aandacht besteed aan de totstandkoming en de rechtsgeldigheid van het forensisch onderzoek en bewijs naar Belgisch recht.00Ten slotte wordt onderzocht hoe het moderne forensische bewijs wordt ingepast in het Belgische strafrechtssysteem: hoe verhoudt het beginsel van de onaantastbare rechterlijke beoordeling van de bewijswaarde zich tot het wetenschappelijk verantwoorde waarschijnlijkheidsdenken, en hoe springen we in België in de 21ste eeuw om met het hier te lande toch unieke begrippenpaar bewijswaarde-bewijskracht?

Après avoir fait le point sur les connaissances en matière de « néonaticide », « filicide » et « infanticide », cet ouvrage se propose une analyse de situations infanticides à partir de dizaines de cas, depuis la mort du nouveau-né, parfois répétée plusieurs fois, jusqu’au meurtre de masse (plusieurs enfants). Ces mères qui ont tué leur(s) bébé(s) ou leurs enfants sont habitées par une mélancolie particulière qui est au centre de ces histoires dramatiques, mais cependant toutes singulières. Cette mélancolie n’est pas une maladie mentale et se doit d’être expliquée, car incomprise, par le clinicien lors de procès souvent fort médiatisés. L’ouvrage, issu de l’expérience clinique de l’auteur, tente de décrypter et de répondre à une interrogation essentielle qui fait aujourd’hui débat : Comment certaines femmes se retrouvent-elles face à un besoin de « néantisation » qui les fait se supprimer en tant que mères ou conserver comme témoins de leur « maternalité » les corps de leurs nourrissons décédés ?

This book examines how historical military influences can become embedded and used by the state to control citizens' behaviour, termed the militarisation of behaviours. It refers to the treatment of citizens by their state in a manner resembling a treatment of soldiers by the army. The militarisation of behaviours is a process of mass social control where the state exercises its powers over the population, blurring the boundaries between a dichotomous divide of civilian and military life. This book focuses on the social process of how Polish post-WWII emergency legislation was normalised and how through it the Polish communist state (from 1943/4 until 1989) introduced and enforced the process of militarisation of behaviours. It discusses the impact of the emergency legislation on the Republic of Ireland as a comparison. It offers a useful lens to understand the social and political processes happening currently in Poland, Ireland, and elsewhere, with the increasing influence of the (far) right. This book is situated in the framework of criminology and socio-legal studies. Błażej Kaucz is a researcher in criminology and socio-legal studies. He completed his PhD in criminology in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at University College Cork, Ireland.

This book examines the interactions between trade policy and foreign and security policy in EU external action as a nexus of practices.
